Day 3 Wrap Up | Ride West 2018

Day 3

What an exhilarating and exhausting day! We started in Chinchilla bright and early at 5am to begin the mammoth 220km day.

As we are heading further west, there were many more ‘wazza’ landmines to dodge. Our first 60kms was a breeze, then we stopped in at Condamine for morning tea, lovingly prepared by our support crew.

We then peddled another 60kms into Lonesome and had some sandwiches, hydra lights and home made slices, and a visit from a few boys in blue that managed to get the trouble makers under control.

Robbie‘s chamois cream kept the team moving forward!

We then jumped back on the bikes for the next 60kms which was really starting to test the team – the heat was intense today.

We stopped off one more time to re-hydrate and continued on into Roma, Queensland with a great police escort for the last few kilometers into town. We felt pretty special!

The best part of it all was that most of the team SMASHED their personal riding PB of over 200kms in a day! A mammoth effort!! So proud of the endurance of this team.

We finished off the day with a great function in Roma attended by local mayor and mayoress as well as many of our amazing sponsors and dignitaries. A special mention to Mayor Tyson Golder and Mayoress Natalie Golder, Bruce Scott (board member of the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia) and Puddy Chandler, councillor for Maranoa, for their attendance and support. It’s great to see locals backing locals.

We are humbled and encouraged by the amazing support we receive in each town. This event is to help these amazing outback Queensland communities with mental health and suicide awareness. We are so excited to have raised over $250,000 so far. Only 50k to go to reach our target!

Looking forward to day 4!
